Chusovitina Withdraws from World Cup Final (24th November, 2006)

Oksana Chusovitina will not compete at the upcoming World Cup Final in Sao Paulo (Brazil), the German Gymnastics Federation DTB announced on November 23. Instead, the 31-year-old will compete at the German Club Championships, held the same weekend in Heidelberg where Chusovitina's Turnteam Toyota Koeln club is the defending champion.

‘Oksana wants to support her team in the finals since they have done so much for over the past eight years,’ coach Zhanna Polyakova said.

Germany's other star gymnast Fabian Hambüchen has qualified for the World Cup Final on high bar and he has also been upgraded to compete in the vault final due to withdrawals.
