Romania Rely on Izbasa (18th July, 2006)

Nicholae Forminte has spoken to the newspaper Sport Total about Romania’s medal chances at the 2006 World Championships in Denmark. He states that Sandra Izbasa is the main medal hope as she has improved on her vaulting and in particular she has worked hard on a good second vault. Forminte also believes that Izbasa executes her floor elements better than anyone else. The pressure is on Romania, as there are only five gymnasts for the Worlds. The girls have all finished school, enjoyed a training camp at the sea-side, had a medical check up and Forminte’s main concern is to keep them in good shape. Forminte added that the whole team feels the absence of Catalina Ponor.
