Beth is Britain’s Best .. Again! (10th July, 2006)

Beth Tweddle picked up her sixth consecutive British title at the Guildford Spectrum with an overall score of 60.750. The 21 year old also took the title on a-bars, beam and floor. Lynette Lisle (Barry Girls, Wales) won the silver medal with 55.550 and the bronze went to Liverpool’s Aisling Williams (55.300) who has fought hard back from injury and is looking strong. Emma White (Huntingdon) picked up the title on vault, a disappointed Imogen Cairns took silver after she sat down her second vault - RO-1/2 to front tuck.

Becky Downie (Notts) who is tipped to be the next big star of British Gymnastics, won the Junior title with 56.600, despite two falls she still cleaned out her opposition. Liverpool’s Hannah Clowes won silver (55.300) and the bronze went to Rebecca Wing (Heathrow) with 55.250.

The Espoir group has real talent in depth, this will be the focus group for the 2012 London Olympics. 13 year old Jordan Lipton (Notts) showed class and maturity to become the Espoir British Champion with a score of 53.100. Silver went to Danusia Francis from Heathrow (51.700) and the bronze, to her team-mate Nicole Hibbert (51.650).
