Chat with Beth Tweddle (16th June, 2006)
Backflip
caught up with Beth to find out what she’s been up to
since her European title win. If you would like to ask Beth
a question email askbeth@backflipmag.com
- the best questions will be featured in magazine.
Backflip:
How did you feel winning the European bars title in Volos?
Beth: It was absolutely amazing. I have been
waiting for that result for so long and finally I have achieved
it. To be honest I cant remember much of the day, it’s
a bit of a blur. My main memory is that the buses didn't turn
up to the hotel so we had to go in police cars to the venue.
Backflip:
What was the reception from family/friends when you came home?
Beth: It was absolutely fantastic, the moment
people saw it on TV at home, my phone didn't stop going off.
When I returned I went out to celebrate with my university
friends. A couple of weeks ago the gym held a party for me
which was really nice.
Backflip:
Are you changing you bars set (heard you have a new connection,
is this true)?
Beth: I am not changing it really at the moment.
Maybe later in the year or next year.
Backflip:
Any new skills?
Beth: I am playing around with a few things
but that’s all it is at the moment so that I am not
on full routines all the time.
Backflip:
Has the foot healed?
Beth: The foot is hopefully nearly there. I
am training fully on it now on soft landings and have recovered
all my skills. I am not sure when I will compete fully.
Backflip:
What lies ahead for you in the coming weeks/months?
Beth: We have a friendly against China on the
weekend of the 24th June at my home club which will be a good
match. Then two weeks later will be the British Championships.
After that I will have a bit of a holiday before starting
my build up for the World Championships in October. |
