End in Sight for Ponor (20th April, 2006)

The European Championships for teams in women’s artistic gymnastics at Volos on 27-30 of April may be the last farewell for Catalina Ponor’s impressive athletic career.

The sensation of the Athens Olympics, is expected to be one of the favourites of the European Championships, is considering retiring after the end of the competition. Her coach Matei Stanei stated that Catalina is determined to win and apparatus medal and end her career on a high.

‘Catalina has stated that she has decided to retire after the European Championships. Our goal at Volos will be to win at least a medal in the apparatus finals, in order to finish her career in glory” stated her coach Matei Stanei.
