Lone Ranger for Spanish (18th November, 2005)

While Spain will have their six men competing, Lenika de Simone is the lone woman flying the flag for her country. Her goal is realistic - to learn from the experience of competing in the all around competition.

Spanish Head of Delegation Pedro Mir Homev said that while numbers were down, the future is looking good for the female team.

‘For Nationals we had a full team but because of the age rule they are not all here.’ With an array of 14 and 15 year old talent set to compete at the European Youth Olympic Festival and Junior European Championships, Beijing is the ultimate prize. ‘Spain has a long history of performing well. We will be ready to be in best positions,’ said Homev.
