Wammes
High Hopes for Vault Win (16th November, 2005)
Netherlands
team member Jeffrey Wammes admitted he was a little nervous
in the run up to the Worlds as he worked on his routines and
confidence in training early on Wednesday. However, the 18
year states that preparations are going well.
‘I’m
doing all around so I’m hoping to get into the all around
final. And maybe vault. I think vault is my biggest chance.’
He wasn’t shy in admitting who his main competitors
were, either.
‘I
think the same names (always come up). The Romanians and some
of the Russians.’ Wammes said everything he does was
aimed towards his long term goal of making it to the 2008
Beijing Olympic Games. Jeffrey isn’t the only gymnast
in the Wammes clan. His older sister Gabrielle was a member
of the Dutch team who came second at the European’s
in 2002.
