Li Sets Sights on Record 12th Medal (16th November,
2005)
Li
is currently ranked second in the world on parallel bars and
is a leading contender on vault and has a total of 10 medals
from his championships appearances, one behind Chinese legend
Li Ning.
Recently,
Li has been troubled by an Achilles tendon injury, which affected
his performance at the 2004 Olympics.
‘I
am still carrying the injury in my ankle, but I feel that
I am almost back to form.’
When
asked about the younger team members, Li is confident in their
performances.
‘This
is a good opportunity for them to gain some experience in
the international arena and to prepare for the 2008 Beijing
Olympic Games.’
After
a memorable win on the parallel bars at the Sydney Olympics,
competing again in Australia may bring some luck to Li.
‘Yes,
I am hoping that is the case,’ he said.
