World Champs Entry List Released (4th November, 2005)

The FIG released a list of gymnasts registered to compete in the 2005 World Championships in Melbourne. Standouts include Romania’s Olympic sensation Catalina Ponor while the Russian delegation includes Elena Zamolodchikova and Anna Pavlova. China has named Cheng Fei, Fan Ye, Zhang Nan and Zhang Yufei. For Great Britain, the list includes Beth Tweddle, Imogen Cairns, Shavahn Church and Rhian Pugh.

The USA has named Nastia Liukin, Chellsie Memmel, Jana Bieger and Alicia Sacramore. Although it is believed the team will not be confirmed until the completion of a final selection camp scheduled Nov 9th - 13th. The team selected will then depart immediately for Melbourne.

16 year old Brit Louis Smith, who won a bronze on pommels at the World Cup in Glasgow has been listed to compete as well as current British champion Ross Brewer. The experienced Ivan Ivankov is also set to compete. The USA mens team is comprised Olympian Jason Gatson, Sean Golden, Justin Spring, Wen Tan, Todd Thornton and Yewki Tomita.
