Chunichi Cup Cancelled (31st October, 2005)

The Chunichi Cup which has been held every year since 1970 has been cancelled for 2005. It was originally scheduled for Dec 3-4, a week after the World Artistic Championships in Melbourne. The reasons for its cancellation are because of the schedule, sponsors and the new Code of Points.

The Chunichi Cup was one of the last international competitions with an all-around event. Most other competitions have switched to the World Cup format, which is for apparatus only. Competitions such as the Cottbus Cup, the DTB Cup, the French International and the American Cup have all dropped the all-around. So when the Chunichi Cup returns next year, it may have also adopted this competition format.
