Beth Conquers Glasgow (26th October, 2005)

Beth Tweddle was in top competition form in Glasgow and was the most successful gymnast at the event winning two golds on bars and floor. Beth also picked up a bronze on beam. Fellow team mate Imogen Cairns added another bronze medal on floor to the one she picked up in Stuttgart at the weekend and a bronze on vault. The 2004 Junior European champion on pommels and rising British star, Louis Smith took bronze on pommels. Kristian Berki of Hungary took the gold on pommels just ahead of Marius Urzica of Romania. 30 year old Oxsana Chusovitina took the vault title. Lili Wang of China performed with great poise to win gold on the beam. Canada’s Brandon O'Neil continued his recent success in Stuttgart with a gold on floor. Yuri Van Gelder of the Nederlands won gold on the rings ahead of Russia’s Alexander Safoshkin. Lesnek Blanik of Poland won the vault gold and Dezhi Li of China took gold on the parallel bars. Australia’s Phillippe Rizzo reigned supreme on high bar.
